Some people are reporting that Microsoft is still allowing free upgrades from Windows 7, but that doesn't seem to happen all the time, so expect that you might have to purchase a license for Windows 10 in order to activate it after the upgrade. Note however that the upgrade might not be free. In terms of actually performing the upgrade, you can download Windows 10 from Microsoft here. And as for performance, in many ways Windows 10 can perform better than Windows 7 because it has better memory management and takes advantage of memory compression, among many other optimizations. ![]() It's possible, even likely, that for such an old system, Windows 10 already has native support for that system's hardware, and/or Windows Update might provide the necessary drivers. Despite what G says above, the fact that Dell does not provide drivers for Windows 10 does not necessarily mean that Windows 10 wouldn't work.
